Ahead of Wild Card Weekend, the Houston Texans have released one of their veteran defensive backs on Tuesday. The roster move comes on the brink of roster elevations prior to the Texans trip to Pittsburgh for next Monday night's wildcard game.
Houston Texans part ways with veteran defender
The move game on Tuesday when the Texans elevated DB Darrell Taylor from injury reserve. Taylor had been on IR since early November due to an ankle injury, returning to practice in mid-December.
To clear a roster spot, Houston released safety K’Von Wallace, who appeared in three starts for the Texans this season. Wallace logged 108 defensive snaps and 38 snaps on special teams, contributing as a depth defender and in the kicking game before his release.

Wallace, a former Clemson standout, has built his NFL resume as a physical, versatile defensive back capable of playing safety and nickel while providing value on special teams. His departure opens the door for Taylor to step into a larger role in the secondary as the Texans shuffle their depth chart late in the season.
