Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was present for practice on Tuesday; however, the team announced that he will not participate in the Thursday night game against Buffalo as he must clear concussion protocol.
CJ Stroud ruled out for Thursday Night Football
In a Tuesday afternoon press conference, head coach DeMeco Ryans informed reporters that Stroud had officially been ruled out for the game against the Bills. Texans QB2 Davis Mills will continue to take the reins as the starting quarterback until Stroud can return. The decision shouldn't come as a shock to many, as Stroud had a short window to clear concussion protocol in time for Thursday's game.
C.J. Stroud suffered a concussion during the second quarter of the Texans' Week 9 loss to the Denver Broncos. While scrambling for a first down, Stroud slid to the turf but was hit in the chest by Broncos cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, causing his head and upper body to whip back into the ground. This hit forced Stroud out of the game, and he did not return, as he was immediately placed in the NFL's concussion protocol.
