The Green Bay Packers completed one of the ugliest playoff collapses you will ever see on Saturday night.

After staking themselves to an 18-point lead going into halftime of the wild-card game versus the Chicago Bears, the Packers managed to cough up that lead and ultimately lost to the Bears, 31-27.

It is just the latest disappointment in the tenures of head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst, both of whom were believed to be on the hot seat going into the 2025 campaign.

But will the Packers actually fire LaFleur and/or Gutekunst?

Here's what we know.

Will Packers fire Matt LaFleur?

No, LaFleur, who will be in the final year of his contract in 2026, is not expected to be fired, at least according to pre-game reports.

Before the game on Saturday night, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that not only was LaFleur not coaching for his job in the game against the Bears, but the Packers also intend on trying to extend him during the offseason.

Here's Rapoport's full report:

Sources say the Packers plan to engage head coach Matt LaFleur in contract discussions shortly after the season ends, with the mutual goal of extending his contract. LaFleur, whose deal expires following the 2026 season, has a 76-40-1 record and is widely considered to be one of the better coaches in the NFL.

The Packers visit the Chicago Bears tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Prime Video in the Wild Card Round, and LaFleur's looming contract situation has been one of the lingering storylines. Yet there is one truth that should not be discounted: LaFleur is not coaching for his job tonight, sources say.

Of course, Rapoport's report came before Green Bay's epic collapse in the wild-card game, so perhaps that'll be enough to change the Packers' mind.

Will Packers fire Brian Gutekunst?

ESPN's Adam Schefter not only echoed Rapoport's report about LaFleur getting an extension, but he said the same about Gutekunst.

"I believe they will try to sign [LaFleur] and Gutekunst to an extension," he said on The Pat McAfee Show earlier in the week.

Again, this was before the epic collapse on Saturday night, so we wouldn't rule out Gutekunst and LaFleur being shown the door.
