If you tuned into the Green Bay Packers' win on Sunday over the Minnesota Vikings, you may have noticed something odd.
Jordan Love, the Packers' QB, was making all his handoffs right-handed.
That's the normal way you'd hand off to a running back going left.
But when the RB goes right, a quarterback will generally hand the ball off lefty.
Not Love on Sunday, though.
Why did Jordan Love make all his handoffs right-handed?
Love was making up for an injury.
He was on the injury report all week with a left shoulder problem. It didn't stop him from being a full participant in practice, but it did change his handoffs.
Love had to go with what amounts to a backhanded handoff any time a Packers RB was going to the right side of the line on a run play from under center.
It makes it clear that Love's left shoulder isn't in great shape, which isn't ideal.
The backhand handoffs didn't stop Emmanuel Wilson from having a big day, although occasionally it can make timing or exchanges a bit weirder.
It's more of a signal, though, that Love isn't fully healthy. The Packers would much rather his left shoulder be hurt than his right. But in the long run, Green Bay would probably benefit from Love returning to better health overall.
