The Green Bay Packers probably should still be playing.

But they blew a huge lead on Saturday night to the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs, and so their season is over.

With the end of the season comes a look to the future, and they've got one key offensive skill player set for free agency.

This was the fourth and final season of Romeo Doubs' rookie contract. He's set to hit the free agent market while still just 25 years old.

Doubs had a solid campaign, making 55 catches for 724 yards and six touchdowns. He's developed into a strong WR since being a fourth-round pick in 2022.

The Packers' depth chart points to not keeping Doubs, though. They've got Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden and Dontayvion Wicks.

When healthy, the Packers have plenty of receivers, and Doubs may command too much money to keep him around in that crowded group.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell wrote in December about why the wide receiver market may be very kind for Doubs.

"Young, starting-caliber wide receivers with size and even solid speed are difficult to come by, which is why relatively unproductive burners such as Tutu Atwell and Dyami Brown got $10 million per year in free agency this offseason," ESPN's Bill Barnwell wrote. "With George Pickens sure to be locked up by the Cowboys and Alec Pierce a potential franchise tag candidate for the Colts, there's going to be more demand for young wideout talent in free agency than supply this offseason."

Doubs is talented enough to join a contender as a secondary pass catcher.

"Doubs probably isn't going to develop into a No. 1 receiver, but moving from a run-first offense into more of a pass-happy attack, there's a chance he could be a high-end No. 2 if a team is willing to commit to him in that sort of role," Barnwell writes.

The Packers will surely have discussions with Doubs, who was reliable for QB Jordan Love. But if the price gets too high, Doubs could move on.
