The Green Bay Packers have reportedly found their next defensive coordinator.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Packers are hiring former Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon to replace Jeff Hafley.

"The Packers are hiring Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator, per source," Pelissero reported.

The Packers were in need of a new defensive coordinator after Hafley left to take the head-coach job with the Miami Dolphins.

Gannon spent the last three seasons as the head coach of the Cardinals, where he did not have much success.

Arizona went 15-36 over his three seasons at the helm and Gannon's defenses were not very good. That led to his getting canned following the 2025 campaign.

Gannon put himself on the map as a head coach candidate when he was the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons.

In 2022, Gannon saw his unit rank second in total yards per game, eighth in points allowed and first in passing yards given up, which helped him land Arizona's gig.

Gannon takes over a defense that has talent, but question marks, also.

Micah Parsons might not be ready for the start of the season, Quay Walker is slated to hit free agency, and the Packers have concerns at cornerback.

All that said, for a win-now team like Green Bay, hiring an experienced coach to call plays on defense made a ton of sense. Now, the Packers will hope Gannon is able to recreate the success he had in Philly.
