The Green Bay Packers enter the 2025 season with a lot of excitement, especially after they finally selected a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft. The Packers selected Texas star Matthew Golden, giving quarterback Jordan Love another exciting option in the passing attack.
With OTAs right around the corner, the Packers are still working on finalizing their roster and adding some players. On Monday, they made an interesting move at the QB position to bolster the room led by Love.
The Packers signed Taylor Elgersma, who played at the University of Wilfrid Laurier in Canada. He even won the Hec Crighton Trophy, which is Canada's version of the Heisman Trophy.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network revealed the news with a video from his recent workout with Green Bay.

Elgersma was active this offseason, participating in the College Gridiron Showcase and Tropical Bowl as well as becoming the first Canadian quarterback to participate in the Reese's Senior Bowl.
During the Senior Bowl, Elgersma impressed, especially with questions surrounding the transition from Canada to the NFL, but Packers coach Matt LaFleur was impressed during his workouts with the team as well, per Bill Huber.
“We had him in on a 30 visit, so we got an opportunity to sit down with him. Another guy that loves football, and then just watching him throw an hour ago, he’s got a live arm. So, there’s a lot to like about him.”
Now, he joins the Packers and will have a shot to compete with Sean Clifford to be the QB3 on the depth chart behind Jordal Love and Malik Willis, respectively. So, after an impressive run at Packers' rookie minicamp, Elgersma signs a deal and will begin his career in Green Bay.
