The Green Bay Packers have looked in a unique place for quarterback depth.
They picked up the top QB out of the Canadian college football circuit.
Taylor Elgersma came to the Packers' rookie minicamp last weekend and earned a contract, per TSN's Dave Naylor.
Elgersma had an invite to Bills minicamp but won't be going there now.
He played his college football at the University of Wilfrid Laurier. In his final season, he won Canada's equivalent of the Heisman Trophy with 4,252 passing yards and 35 touchdowns to go with seven rushing scores.
Elgersma was then invited to the Senior Bowl, too.

He's an admired Canadian prospect, taken 18th overall in last week's CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He likely would've gone higher if not for the known NFL interest.
The Packers' QB room behind Love also includes Malik Willis and Sean Clifford.
It seems like Elgersma's best chance to make the roster would be to beat out former Penn State QB Sean Clifford.
Elgersma has the winning pedigree and the swagger to be a good NFL player.
Long-term backups are a valuable QB piece for every team.
Hopefully Green Bay gives Elgersma a chance to see what he can become.
