The Green Bay Packers have their future looking bright on offense, especially with franchise quarterback Jordan Love leading the way. Josh Jacobs is a powerhouse at running back and can carry the load when needed. The defense, however, might be facing a major change with the possible departure of their veteran cornerback.
Jaire Alexander has been in contract talks with the team for a while, but there has been little to no progress toward a new deal. Initially, it seemed the Packers were prepared to let Alexander walk, but now there appears to be hesitation about whether that’s the right move.
“A lack of updates could stem from the Packers potentially having second thoughts on sending Alexander to free agency with a buyout,” Chris Schad wrote.
On the brighter side, the Packers are confident that rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden will be suiting up for them this season. Golden has had an impressive month of May— in fact, it might lead to the team trading away a veteran wideout.
“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Albert Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."
Golden also made headlines on draft night for his character. Over a month later, he’s showing his appreciation for Green Bay by reflecting on what the fans mean to him.

“Starting to realize Green Bay not too big, so a lot of people gonna recognize me. But it’s a blessing just to be able to be around people that care about you … for me it’s just being able to show my face and show that I love being here,” Golden said.
Golden is clearly enjoying the early days of his NFL journey in Green Bay. That bond with the fans is only expected to grow once he hits the field. Based on his attitude and recent comments, he’s already becoming a fan favorite, with the love being apparent from the beginning.
