NFL picks, predictions for Week 2: Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Commanders image

The Green Bay Packers will square off against the Washington Commanders at Lambeau Field in Week 2 in a matchup between two teams with a 1-0 record.

The Packers made a statement in Week 1, handily defeating a Detroit Lions team that many consider a Super Bowl contender in 2025. Meanwhile, the Commanders took care of business with a 21-6 win over the lowly New York Giants.

Between the regular season and postseason, this will be the 41st meeting between the Packers and Washington, and the first since 2022. Including playoffs, the Packers are 22-17-1 against the Commanders all time.

Lambeau Field has been a nightmare for Washington over the years. The franchise hasn't won a game on the hallowed grounds since 1988.

After a quick scan of different betting odds, the Packers are favored to win this game. But do experts see it the same way?

Here's a look at some Week 2 picks and predictions for Commanders versus Packers.

Packers vs. Commanders picks, predictions

Bill Bender, The Sporting News: Packers 24, Commanders 23

Bender: "A great matchup between NFC contenders that might evoke memories of a 48-47 shootout on Monday Night Football in 1983. Micah Parsons has 10.5 sacks in eight career games against Washington. The Commanders are 4-4 S/U as a road underdog with Jayden Daniels, but Green Bay finds a way to make it two in a row at Lambeau Field."

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: Packers 27, Commanders 24

Iyer: "Jayden Daniels will be up for the duel with Jordan Love, using his legs well to slow down the Green Bay pass rush. The difference will be the Packers being more effective in the running game with Josh Jacobs."

Jeremy Cluff, Arizona Republic: Packers 27, Commanders 23

Cluff: "Both of these teams impressed in Week 1, but the Packers really impressed in their win over the Detroit Lions. An efficient Jordan Love (16-for-22, 188 yards, 2 TDs vs Detroit) makes Green Bay tough to beat, especially at Lambeau."

Iain MacMillan, Sports Illustrated: Packers over Commanders

MacMillan: "Despite the Commanders getting the job done in Week 1 against the Giants, I'm still not sold on this team, and I'm willing to bet on us seeing some regression from them after their unbelievable run in 2024. Their holes on defense will be exploited by a dynamic Packers offense, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Green Bay run away with this game on Thursday Night Football."

John Breech, CBS Sports: Packers 30, Commanders 27

Breech: "The Commanders rushing attack steamrolled the Giants in Week 1 with 220 rushing yards, but it's hard to be impressed by that, because it was against the Giants. Including the playoffs, the Commanders went 1-4 last season when they were held under 100 yards rushing, but they went 13-2 when they crossed 100 yards. This Packers defense held the Lions to under 50 rushing yards and if they can stifle the Commanders, they should be able to win. "
