The Green Bay Packers have both of their top running backs, Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson, listed as questionable for Week 15.
Jacobs is dealing with a knee injury that landed him on the injury report this week. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday before getting in a limited session on Friday and drawing a questionable tag.
Wilson was not on the injury report during the week but was added on Saturday with an illness and was given a questionable tag.
Here's what we know about the statuses for both players ahead of Green Bay's critical Week 15 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
Is Josh Jacobs playing today?
Yes, Jacobs is expected to play on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"Packers RB Josh Jacobs, listed as questionable due to a knee injury, is expected to play vs. The Broncos, per source," Schefter said. "Jacobs didn’t practice Wednesday and Thursday, and Green Bay also is mindful that it has another game in six days in Chicago, but Jacobs is expected to play."
Is Emanuel Wilson playing today?
Wilson's status remains up in the air, per Schefter, who notes the running back needs to see how he feels on Sunday morning before a decision is made.
"Packers RB Emanuel Wilson, listed as questionable due to an illness, needs to see how he feels Sunday before determining whether he can play, per source," Schefter reported. "He showed up at the team’s training facility Saturday with a virus, was sent home, given medication, and the team is hoping he will feel well enough Sunday to play vs. The Broncos."
Josh Jacobs start or sit advice
The Broncos present a tough matchup for Jacobs, with Denver ceding the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs this season.
That said, Jacobs ranks as RB8 overall entering Week 15, which makes him an every-week starter, regardless of matchup.
Jacobs must be in your lineup this week, just temper expectations for what he'll produce.
Verdict: Start
Emanuel Wilson start or sit advice
Wilson is Jacobs' handcuff and will get the vast majority of the work if Jacobs does not play on Sunday, although obviously Wilson's status bears monitoring, so make sure he's actually active before starting him in place of Jacobs.
The last time Wilson filled in for Jacobs, he ripped off 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns, showing the kind of potential he has in a workhorse role.
Of course, if Jacobs is active, you're not starting Wilson. But if Jacobs is inactive and Wilson plays, you're starting the Packers' backup running back.
Verdict: Start (if Jacobs is inactive)
