Jayden Reed injury update: Packers WR suffers broken collarbone vs. Commanders image

Jayden Reed is dealing with an injury for the Green Bay Packers as they take on the Washington Commanders on "Thursday Night Football" to start Week 2.

Reed attempted to come down with a deep pass from quarterback Jordan Love in the first quarter, but landed awkwardly as a defender sprawled on top of him. He was able to come off the field under his own power, and then collapsed on the sideline in pain. He was taken into the blue medical tent and then escorted to the locker room.

Here are the latest injury updates for Reed.

Jayden Reed injury updates

Reed appeared to get hurt on a would-be touchdown for the Packers. He landed awkwardly in the end zone with a Commanders defender on top of him, but the touchdown wouldn't have counted anyway because of a flag.

Reed ended up leaving the field and going into the blue medical tent. When he came out, he put a towel over his head and was escorted to the locker room for more testing. The broadcast said that Reed could take only a few steps before having to take a second to gather himself and then continue. He was taken into the X-ray room to be evaluated by doctors.

The Packers have said that it is officially a shoulder injury and that the wide receiver is questionable to return.

Reed was ruled out for the remainder of the game during halftime.

Reed was spotted on the sideline with his arm in a sling. We still haven't gotten a diagnosis for how severe the injury is, just that he has been ruled out.

Reed was diagnosed with a fractured collarbone. He will be added to injured reserve, which means he will miss at least the next four games for the Packers. Currently, Green Bay does expect him to return this season. The hope is that he is able to return in six to eight weeks.
