The Green Bay Packers decided not to play running back Josh Jacobs late in the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears.
As the Packers were on offense in the fourth quarter and in overtime, Jacobs was absent from the lineup, with Green Bay utilizing Emanuel Wilson instead.
Did Jacobs get benched? Here's what we know.
Did Packers bench Josh Jacobs?
We knew that Jacobs' workload would likely be limited, as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero noted ahead of kickoff.
That's the easy explanation for why Jacobs didn't play late in the game, as the Packers might have been managing his reps to ensure he stays healthy after entering the game at less than 100%.
However, Jacobs also had a crucial fumble near the goal line in the third quarter, so that might be at least part of the reason why the Packers sat him.
We'll see if head coach Matt LaFleur gives a direct answer to why Jacobs didn't play late on Saturday night.
