The Detroit Lions are going with a simple uniform look on Thanksgiving Day.

Their helmets, which usually have a blue lion logo on them, are blank.

That's not a mistake. There wasn't someone who just left the logos at home. It's on purpose.

Why are the Lions' helmets blank silver?

The Lions' helmets are intentionally left blank because they're a throwback choice.

As they often do, the Lions are wearing a whole throwback uniform for Thanksgiving.

They'll take on the Green Bay Packers in a classic Detroit Lions look.

That comes with the plain silver helmet.

The Lions aren't the only NFL team rocking throwbacks on Thursday. In the second game of the day, the Dallas Cowboys will also break out a throwback look, which for them involves their cool white helmets.

For the Lions, though, it just means simplicity. The helmets are silver, and that's enough.
