With the release of the 2025 schedule on Wednesday night, experts have begun making their record predictions for the Detroit Lions.
While it's way too early to do so, we can say for sure that the Lions are going to have a tough time matching or topping their 15-win 2024 campaign. That's not being down on Detroit, it's just being realistic.
Not only is it hard to even approach 15 wins, the Lions also have the third-toughest schedule in the NFL, according to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, who utilizes projected 2025 win totals from Vegas oddsmakers to calculate that.
Taking it a step further, the Lions' road slate over the first 11 games is far and away the most difficult in the NFL, as Sharp also pointed out.
All that said, if there's any team that can overcome such a brutal schedule to win the division and make the playoffs, it's an elite team like the Lions.
However, not all experts see it that way, with one even suggesting the Lions will fall to nine wins and cede the division crown to the Green Bay Packers.
Check out that prediction from Bleacher Report's Moe Moton and more in our round-up below.
Lions 2025 record predictions
Moe Moton, Bleacher Report: 9-8
Moton: "Remember, the Philadelphia Eagles went 14-3 in 2022 and dropped to 11-6 the following year with a pair of new coordinators. The Lions will take a bigger fall with their daunting road schedule in a competitive division. They will hover around .500 in 2025."
Carmen Vitali, FOX Sports: 11-6
Vitali: "The Lions are, and should be, the favorites to win the NFC North again. Their roster still looks great top to bottom, and they’ll be getting perhaps the league’s best pass rusher back from injury in Aidan Hutchinson. Still, there’s bound to be some regression when you lose both coordinators to head coaching jobs. After Detroit won 15 games last season though, I’m just not sure a little regression is going to matter all that much."
Gilberto Manzano, Sports Illustrated: 14-3
Manzano: "Perhaps this could be the Lions’ revenge tour after falling flat in the divisional playoff loss against the Commanders. We should find out immediately if Dan Campbell’s Lions are still just as good without former coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. Detroit gets divisional foes Green Bay and Chicago before a Week 3 showdown in Baltimore."
