Micah Parsons is one of the top edge-rushers in the league, that much is undeniable.

Predictably, the defender wants to be PAID like one of the top edge-rushers in the league. The Penn State product is set to play out his rookie contract in 2025, and is looking to potentially reset the market at the position.

Unfortunately, Parsons and the Cowboys have been unable to work out a deal, and Parsons made it known on Friday that he no longer wants to be in Dallas. As a result, the team could look to cash in on the edge-rusher before Week 1 gets underway.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently identified the top trade packages for Parsons, and Knox came up with an intriguing offer from the Lions. Knox's offer is the following:

  • Lions Get: Edge Micah Parsons, 2026 5th-round pick
  • Cowboys Get: 2026 1st-round pick, 2026 2nd-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2026 3rd-round pick, Edge Marcus Davenport

In this scenario, the Lions would part with an inconsistent veteran in Marcus Davenport, as well as two first-rounders, one second-rounder, and one third-rounder. It's a hefty price, but the Lions could be willing to pay it to finally give Aidan Hutchinson a capable running mate.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, would get a filler edge-rusher in Davenport and plenty of draft capital to try and replace Parsons' production in the future.

In 2024, Parsons played in 13 games and collected 43 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks. The defender earned an elite 90.0 Pro Football Focus grade, which ranked 6th out of 211 qualified edge-rushers. Since coming into the league in 2021, Parsons has racked up 256 tackles, 63 tackles for loss, and 52.5 sacks.

If the Lions were to trade for Parsons, they'd have to not only give up a ton of assets, but also a massive extension. Spotrac projects Parsons to command a four-year deal worth $37.9 million annually. That would put Parsons among the top-five highest paid edge-rushers in the league.

In Detroit, Parsons would line up opposite Hutchinson, giving the team probably the most fearsome edge-rush duo in the league. Another presence on the line is desperately needed in the Motor City, as Hutchinson led the team in sacks last season even after playing in just five games.

Currently, the team is slated to start Davenport opposite Hutchinson, with Josh Paschal also rotating in. Davenport and Paschal combined for just 2.5 sacks last season, though, so the team would be wise to add reinforcements at the group.
