Jahmyr Gibbs is quickly making a case not just as one of the best running backs in the current NFL but one of the most promising young RBs in the history of football.
The Detroit Lions' superstar put on a show again on Thursday Night Football, running for three touchdowns as the Lions beat the Dallas Cowboys, 44-30.
In the process, Gibbs gave himself 47 touchdowns for his career.
That ties Barry Sanders for the NFL record for a player before turning 24 years old, and it's also the record for a player in his first three NFL seasons.
Gibbs won't turn 24 until March, so he's pretty much certain to set new records on both those fronts.
He has been worth every bit of the No. 12 overall pick that the Lions used to get him in the 2023 NFL Draft.
For two years, he was very much in tandem with David Montgomery. This season, Monty still sees work, and also ran for a touchdown on Thursday, but it's very much the Gibbs show, including more than ever in the passing game.
Gibbs had just 12 for 43 on the ground on Thursday to go with the three TDs. But as a receiver, he had seven catches for 77 yards.
Being in the same company as Sanders is as rare as it can get, especially when it's not just a Lions record being matched by another Lion but actually an NFL record being held in concert by two Lions, at least until Gibbs breaks it.
But it really puts into context just what Gibbs is doing. There have been almost no running backs like him, ever. The only guy with a case at this point is the legendary Sanders, who was at Thursday's game to watch Gibbs amaze the Detroit crowd like no one has done since No. 20 himself.
