The Detroit Lions have done a fantastic job building an offensive core through the NFL Draft since the arrival of general manager Brad Holmes in 2021.

One of Holmes' best picks as Lions general manager came in 2023 when he selected Jahmyr Gibbs with the No.12 overall pick. The dynamic running back out of Alabama has been a potent weapon in Detroit's offense over the last two years and is only getting better.

Coming off an excellent 2024 campaign, where he posted nearly 2,000 scrimmage yards and tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns with 16, NFL personnel ranked Gibbs as the third-best running back in football in a recent survey done by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The only running backs ahead of Gibbs on the list are future Hall of Famers Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry.

Gibbs came in at No.8 on the ESPN survey last year, so he jumped up five spots on this year's list.

The 23-year-old has been a complete game-changer for Dan Campbell's squad since entering the league in 2023, and Gibbs has the potential to be the greatest Lions running back since Barry Sanders.

In a few years, Gibbs could be at the top of this list. However, in just two seasons, the star Lions playmaker has fully established himself as an elite player at his position.
