The Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions reportedly have a mutual interest in common going into the NFL trade deadline, which falls on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Lions "want a defensive end" and the Eagles "could add another edge rusher" before the deadline.

The Lions don't have as dire a need along the edge as the Eagles do, as Detroit ranks tied for fifth in sacks this season.

However, Marcus Davenport remains on injured reserve and it remains unclear when he'll be back after recent comments from head coach Dan Campbell.

"I can’t give you a definitive, ‘This is when he’s going to be back,'" Campbell said Tuesday. "I am just very confident he is going to be back. We’re going to get him back here."

That leaves the Lions relying Aidan Hutchinson and Al-Quadin Muhammad, both of whom are playing well in 2025, but there's no telling if Muhammad can keep it up. At the very least, the Lions could use more depth, but ideally they land an impact starter to help really bolster their Super Bowl push.

The Eagles are averaging just two sacks per game this season and no longer have Za'Darius Smith, who retired out of nowhere. Brandon Graham came out of retirement, but there's no telling what he'll be able to provide.

Based on the report that says general manager Howie Roseman is "super hot" for a Myles Garrett trade (reports suggest he isn't available, though), it's clear the Eagles are aiming high, and quite honestly, they need to.

But acquiring high-end edge rusher talent on the trade market is extremely difficult to do, as not only are prices for those players sky high, there simply aren't a lot available, if any at all.

That could force the Eagles to settle for a lesser target, which is likely what the Lions are gunning for thanks to their tight salary cap situation over the next few years that will make them hesitant to take on a big contract. And, Detroit's cap situation got even tighter after the Hutchinson extension.

Knowing all that, it's possible the Lions and Eagles will be fighting for the same players ahead of the deadline.

We'd give the edge to the Eagles in any deadline battle with the Lions, as Roseman has proven to be one of the most aggressive general managers in the NFL.
