The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers could both be in the market for an edge rusher during the 2026 offseason.

Both teams have an elite edge rusher, with the 49ers sporting Nick Bosa and the Lions having Aidan Hutchinson, but Bosa and Hutchinson could use more help across from them.

The Niners also have to worry about what shape Bosa is going to be in next season, as he'll be coming back from a torn ACL and may not be himself right away.

Bleacher Report's Alex Kay listed off a handful of trade proposals for teams to throw at the Las Vegas Raiders in order to acquire Maxx Crosby.

Here's what Kay suggested for Detroit:

  • Detroit Gets:  DE Maxx Crosby
  • Las Vegas Gets: 2026 1st-round pick, 2026 5th-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2027 4th-round pick

And here's his trade proposal for the Niners:

  • San Francisco Gets:  DE Maxx Crosby
  • Las Vegas Gets: 2026 1st-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2027 5th-round pick, DE Keion White

The Raiders and Crosby have remained steadfast in their desire to stay together, but there is now renewed speculation that Crosby might look to make his exit after a having a dispute with the team over being shut down for the final two games.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported that, and he also threw in a nugget that the disagreement "could lead to questions on his future in Vegas."

In reality, the Raiders must trade Crosby.

At 28, Crosby might be in his early 30s by the time the Raiders are relevant again.

Las Vegas needs to blow it all up and rebuild and sending Crosby packing would provide a kick start to that rebuild with multiple draft picks, including at least a first-round pick.

Neither the 49ers nor the Lions need Crosby per say, but acquiring him would no doubt increase their chances of winning a Super Bowl.

Detroit should be particularly desperate to make a franchise-changing splash after failing miserably in 2025. It's time for the Lions to make that one big move that puts them over the top, and acquiring Crosby would be that kind of move.
