The Detroit Lions dropped 52 points on the Chicago Bears in Week 2 and that puts quarterback Jared Goff in an exclusive group.
The 50-point game is the fifth Goff has been involved in as a starting quarterback during his career, tying him for the fourth-most since 1950 with Peyton Manning.
Tom Brady holds the record with eight such starts, followed by Drew Brees and Len Dawson, both of whom had six during their illustrious careers.
Goff was absolutely sensational in Week 2 after a rough season-opener.
He completed 23-of-28 passes for 334 yards and five touchdowns to zero picks. Three of those passing scores went to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who dominated Chicago's defense in the 52-21 win.
There was a narrative floating around that Goff wasn't capable of having success with former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson or his former Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay calling the plays.
Entering Sunday, Goff had compiled a 3-18-1 record in his starts without one or the other. However it's important to note that Goff was 0-7 as a rookie and then 3-10-1 during the 2021 campaign, when the Lions were still bad.
Regardless, Goff squashed that narrative on Sunday, and he did it against his aforementioned former offensive coordinator to make it even sweeter.
