The Detroit Lions broke out a new celebration recently.

Their star players began appearing to pick their nose after getting first downs. The officiating crew asked them to stop digging for boogers, though.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini saw this as an opportunity.

She wanted to see what ESPN's Booger McFarland thought about all this.

Booger's real name is Anthony, by the way.

“Picking your nose is only a bad thing if you get caught,” McFarland said to Russini. “Otherwise, it’s as natural as breathing.”

That's certainly a light-hearted way of approaching this whole thing.

Sure, the NFL doesn't need players out there looking like they're picking their nose.

But the league also has a reputation as limiting the fun for its players at times with the celebration rules, and maybe this is the latest, although it's probably not spelled out specifically in the rule book whether or not players can pick their noses.

Russini went next level by asking Booger what he thinks of it, though. That's some hard-hitting journalism for sure.
