The Detroit Lions are going to be taking a look at a former Chicago Bears tight end.
According to Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com, the Lions will host tight end Thomas Gordon for a workout on Tuesday.
Gordon played his college ball at Northwestern, where he tallied 54 receptions for 529 yards and two touchdowns over six years (54 games).
After going undrafted in 2025, Gordon signed a contract with the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas, but the Bears scooped him up in August before releasing him before final cuts. He has yet to play in an NFL game and only appeared in one UFL contest but didn't record a stat.
The Lions currently have three tight ends on their active roster in Sam LaPorta, Brock Wright and Ross Dwelley, and they have Zach Horton on the practice squad and Shane Zylstra, who is out for the season, on injured reserve.
As far as we know, the Lions didn't suffer any injuries at tight end in Week 10, so this workout is a bit curious. Nevertheless, Gordon will likely be added to the practice squad if he does sign in Detroit.
