The Detroit Lions have made a pair of additions to their roster via waivers.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Lions were award defensive tackle Tyler Lacy and defensive end Tyrus Wheat on waivers.
The additions come one day after the Lions whittled down their roster ahead of the cutdown deadline on Tuesday, and on the same day Detroit traded wideout Tim Patrick to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With the additions of Wheat and Lacy, the Lions' roster is now up to 51 players, so they still have two more spots.
A former fourth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023, Lacy has appeared in 28 games (eight starts) over two seasons in the NFL. In 2024, he posted 25 combined tackles (two for loss) and one QB hit in 13 contests.
Wheat signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. He has 20 games of NFL experience and posted 0.5 sacks and 14 combined tackles (one for loss) in eight games last season.
When it comes to Lions players who were cut on Tuesday, none of them were claimed, so Detroit has free rein to bring any of them back on the practice squad.
