The Detroit Lions have been one of the best teams in the NFL in recent years, but head coach Dan Campbell and Co. haven't been able to cash in with a Super Bowl.
Detroit made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game in 2023, and while the team took a step forward in the regular season in 2024 with 15 wins, the Lions' playoff appearance abruptly ended after just one game.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Lions still have an elite roster, but that group isn't without some concerns.
Detroit struggled mightily to stay healthy last season, and the team is lacking along the edge, where the Lions will be depending heavily on Aidan Hutchinson without much else around him. Not to mention, Hutchinson is coming back from a serious injury.
As if all that wasn't enough, the Lions are also transitioning to a new era at both of their coordinator spots, with John Morton replacing Ben Johnson and Kelvin Sheppard taking over for Aaron Glenn.
While there are many people out there who believe the Lions will take a step back as a result of all of those things, Campbell isn't worried one bit.
"We're not worried about that we don't have pass rush, I'm not worried about that we lost two coordinators, I'm not worried about the injuries, I'm not worried about the Hall of Fame Game, I'm not worried about the schedule," Campbell said.
"I think it's perfect. I think it lines up perfect. I think it's gonna be what's best for us with where we're at going into 2025. My fifth year here. The core of this team's fifth year. I really think it's exactly what we're gonna need. The timing is perfect."
Campbell mentions the schedule because, according to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, Detroit sports the third-toughest strength of schedule.
Of their 17 games this coming season, 11 are against teams that made the playoffs. The Lions also have matchups against teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears, two squads that should improve.
But if there's any team that can overcome everything en route to another successful regular season, it's the Lions, a team that is flush with great leadership and talent up and down the roster.
