The Detroit Lions emerged victorious over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, but the win didn't come without a cost.

In the fourth quarter, safety Brian Branch was forced to exit the game with what was later diagnosed as an ankle injury and had to be carted to the locker room.

Branch appeared to get shaken up earlier in the contest but was able to stay in the game before later succumbing to injury.

Unfortunately, head coach Dan Campbell didn't have an update after the game and instead said he would know more on Friday.

“Yeah, I mean, he didn’t finish the game. But there again, I’ll know more tomorrow,” Campbell said, per Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman.

We did get an update from the locker room, where, according to the Detroit Free Press' Carlos Monarrez, Branch was spotted wearing a walking boot and using crutches.

"Per [Carlos Monarrez], Brian Branch was in a boot and crutches after the game. Dan Campbell said he’ll know more tomorrow on the injury, obvious didn’t look great," the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett relayed.

Yeah, that doesn't sound good.

At this point, the best-case scenario for Branch will be a low-ankle sprain, which can be a one to two week injury for anyone not named Amon-Ra St. Brown.

But we also have to fear a high-ankle sprain, which can be a four to six week injury. If that is what it turns out to be, Branch might not be ready to go by the playoffs, assuming the Lions get there.

Branch isn't the only injury concern the Lions have at safety, as Kerby Joseph has missed a ton of time with a knee injury and Thomas Harper is now dealing with a concussion that forced his early exit on Thursday night.

We should know more on Friday, but for now it isn't looking good for Branch and the Lions.
