The Detroit Lions unexpectedly had a question mark at the wide receiver position going into the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings after Amon-Ra St. Brown was on the injury report this week.

St. Brown was placed on the injury report due to a knee injury. He did not practice on Monday before turning in two limited sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to his drawing the questionable tag.

Ahead of what is a very important game for the Lions, who need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive going into the weekend, here's what we know about St. Brown's status for the contest against the Vikings.

Is Amon-Ra St. Brown playing today?

Despite the questionable tag, the expectation is that St. Brown will play in Week 17 versus the Vikings, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"My understanding is we should expect Amon-Ra St. Brown to play because, of course, he always plays," Rapoport said on Wednesday.

Another good sign for St. Brown is the fact that the Lions did not elevate any wide receivers from the practice squad ahead of kickoff, a move Detroit likely would have made if it feared St. Brown sitting out.

It would take quite a lot for St. Brown to not play.

Not only have we seen him play through tougher injuries before, like the ankle sprain he played through in Week 14 versus the Dallas Cowboys, but St. Brown is not going to miss what is the most important game of the Lions' season thus far.

We'll get final confirmation on St. Brown's status an hour and a half before the 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Thursday, when the Lions and Vikings release their lists of inactives.

Amon-Ra St. Brown start or sit advice

This is an easy one.

St. Brown enters Week 17 ranked as WR3 overall in fantasy points, which makes him a locked-in starter each and every week.

Manage expectations a bit this week, though, as the Vikings are ceding the fewest fantasy points per game to wideouts.

The good news is, St. Brown has already had success against Minnesota this season after he tallied nine catches for 97 yards in Week 9.

Lock St. Brown in for Thursday.

Verdict: Start
