Who are Broncos backup QBs? Denver's depth chart comes into focus after Bo Nix injury image

The Denver Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills on Saturday in the divisional round game, but they did not escape the contest unscathed.

After the game was over, Broncos coach Sean Payton revealed that quarterback Bo Nix suffered a broken bone in his ankle in overtime.

Nix will miss the remainder of the playoffs as a result.

“We’ll rise up for the next challenge and go from there,” Payton said.

Now, the Broncos will have to turn to their backup quarterback for the most important game of the season in the AFC Championship Game.

Who are Broncos' backup QBs?

The Broncos' backups are Jarrett Stidham, who Payton confirmed will start in the AFC Championship Game next week, and Sam Ehlinger.

"Sean Payton says Jarrett Stidham will start the AFC Championship Game. Sam Ehlinger will be the No. 2," Pelissero relayed.

A six-year veteran, Stidham has completed 59.4% of his passes for 1,422 yards and eight touchdowns to eight interceptions over 20 games (four starts) in his career.

When he takes the field next week, Stidham will be playing in his first postseason game, which is troubling, to say the least. Adding to that, Stidham hasn't thrown a pass in a game since 2023.

Ehlinger was a sixth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. He has played in eight games (three starts) and has completed 63.4% of his passes for 573 yards and three touchdowns to three picks. He hasn't thrown a pass since 2022.
