The Denver Broncos are currently in possession of the top spot in the AFC, which comes with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and an all-important first-round bye.
But that has not been clinched and after losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16, the Broncos have left the door open for a team to come through and steal that spot. In fact, four other teams could still be the AFC's No. 1 seed and the Broncos will likely need to beat the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18 in order to clinch it.
Here are the teams that could take that spot from the Broncos and what they'll need in order for it to happen.
AFC home-field advantage clinching scenarios
Denver Broncos (13-3): Win vs. The Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18 or losses by the Chargers, Patriots, Bills and Jaguars in Week 17.
New England Patriots (12-3): Win their final two games against the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins and have the Broncos lose to the Chargers in Week 18.
Jacksonville Jaguars (11-4): Win their final two games against the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. The Patriots would need to lose to either the Jets or the Dolphins and the Broncos would need to lose to the Chargers.
Los Angeles Chargers (11-4): Win their final two games against the Houston Texans and Broncos and both the Patriots and Jaguars would each need to lose at least one of their final two games.
Buffalo Bills (11-4): Win their final two games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Jets. The Patriots, Jaguars and Chargers would all need to lose at least one of their final two games and the Broncos would need to lose in Week 18.
As you can see, the odds are still well in favor of the Broncos, but the easiest way for them to be the No. 1 seed is just to take care of their own business against the Chargers. However, this does provide a rooting guide of sorts for Broncos fans.

The last time the Broncos were the No. 1 seed in the AFC was in 2015 and they went all the way to Super Bowl 50 and won that game against the Carolina Panthers. There have been many comparisons made between that team and this year's version of the Broncos.
