Two-time Super Bowl champion Shaquil Barrett is officially calling it a career after 10 years in the NFL.

The former Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneer first announced his departure from the league in July 2024, but ended up playing late in the season and appearing in a playoff game for Tampa Bay.

Barrett most recently worked out for the Indianapolis Colts in October, but is making his retirement official.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Barrett detailed his desire to spend more time with his family, especially after losing his two-year-old daughter, Arrayah, in April 2023.

"I'm 100 percent done for good now," Barrett told Daniel Matthews. "It hurts every day...something that we deal with on a daily basis."

"I want to be there for everything that I can possibly be with my family. I'm just looking forward to being there for my family as much as possible."

Barrett explained that his reappearance in the 2024 season felt like he was cheating the NFL system by skipping almost half the entire season.

"Because I'm used to being there for training camp - throughout the whole year - and then just coming back for the last three or four games, it just felt like I was cheating the system a little bit."

"I didn't like that feeling -it was like I ain't really worked for nothing, but I'm still getting the rewards and everything. The person I am, I like putting in the groundwork and building everything."

Barrett hangs it up as a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, and one of the great playoff performers of the last decade.
