Ahead of their Week 5 road game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Denver Broncos have placed another tight end on short-term injured reserve. Lucas Krull will miss at least the next four games after suffering a broken bone in his foot.
The tight end position continues to be a problematic one for the Broncos. Nate Adkins, who has returned to the lineup, was banged up to start the season. Evan Engram has also been forced to miss a game.
Without Krull, the Broncos will have Engram, Adkins and Adam Trautman in Week 5 against the Eagles. To take Krull's spot on the 53-man roster, the Broncos elevated linebacker Garrett Wallow from the practice squad. Wallow has already been called up for three games this season and will now be a permanent member of the active roster as he had reached the maximum number of practice squad elevations he can have in one season.
Krull, in his third season with the Broncos, has caught two passes for 15 yards on the season.

The team is going to need to figure out how to get consistent depth at the tight end spot, or it is going to be one of the top priorities this offseason. There won't be many great options for the team at this stage of the season, barring a trade, but Sean Payton's offense desperately needs a guy like Engram to step up and become a bigger part of the offense.
