Denver Broncos' interest in former first-round pick shows team is not satisfied with young group image

Once the Denver Broncos return from London, they will get back to business and one of the first things on the docket will be a visit with former first-round pick Treylon Burks

The Broncos are looking to supplement the wide receiver group and that may be a good move as outside of Courtland Sutton, the team is not getting a lot of production. The group is young behind Sutton, with Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr. and Pat Bryant next in line on the depth chart.

This seems to be an area where the Broncos are not completely satisfied, as both Thomas Thayer and Samori Toure have been added to the practice squad since the regular season started. The Broncos have four wide receivers on the practice squad, though they would likely move on from one of them if they were to agree to a deal with Burks.

Other teams are reported to have interest in Burks as well.

The Tennessee Titans released Burks during the offseason. They used a first-round pick on him in 2022, but he caught just 53 passes in his time with the team. But if his health is in order, there is plenty to be excited about.

Burks has great size at 6-foot-2 and he is still only 25 years old. He ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft and likely still possesses that kind of speed.

When the NFL expanded practice squads to 16 players for teams, it gave them a chance to take a shot on players they may not under normal circumstances. Burks would be a prime example of that and the upside is high if he can stay healthy.
