Will the Denver Broncos make a deal before this year's trade deadline?
That deadline is set for Tuesday, November 4. The Broncos could look to improve their roster at guard or linebacker, but head coach Sean Payton will always take a look at what might be available with his former team, the New Orleans Saints. Taysom Hill is a guy who is still there.
The Broncos have been connected to Hill in predictions many times before, and ESPN's Bill Barnwell is the latest to make that connection. In this prediction, the Broncos get Hill and a seventh-round pick in 2028 in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2028. That's close to getting Hill, who was a true Swiss Army knife in Payton's offense, for nothing.
Barnwell had this to say on the subject:
"Let's reunite Hill with his biggest fan. Sean Payton's Broncos have plenty of playmakers, but they could always stand to add another threat on short yardage and in the red zone. Evan Engram has been a disappointment so far (137 yards), and though the Broncos have occasionally gotten Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins involved in the passing game, there's nobody in the league quite like Hill.
Back on the field after tearing his left ACL a year ago, Hill has seen a handful of snaps over the past two weeks, scoring a touchdown on a pin/pull sweep against the Patriots in Week 6. He's 35 years old and in the final year of the four-year, $40 million deal he signed with the organization in November 2021. The Saints are on the hook for $13.7 million in dead money in 2026 if they trade Hill now, but they're already expecting to eat that money once Hill's contract voids after the 2025 campaign. The Saints would save $2.8 million in cash by trading Hill.
And while Kellen Moore would obviously prefer to have a player with Hill's unique talents on the field, the Saints would add a little bit of extra draft capital in the process. Hill would get a chance to go play for a team with meaningful football ahead in the final days of his NFL career, and I suspect he wouldn't need too much lead time to learn the playbook."
It's an interesting situation from a financial perspective for New Orleans, but it would add a good piece for the Broncos in order to make the offense a bit more unpredictable. Though Barnwell touched on what Hill could add as a tight end, he may be best used when he comes in as a quarterback where Payton could draw up a special package of plays for him.

Hill may be playing in his final NFL season, so the Broncos wouldn't have him for long, but for a sixth-round pick in 2028, it would be worth seeing what he could bring.
