Many fans of the Denver Broncos have been disgusted and dismayed with the play of CB2, Riley Moss, this season. They have hit social media in droves to vent their frustrations.
But when you watch closely, Moss is often in great position, wide receivers and quarterbacks are just making great plays on him. This play is a perfect example. If we're honest, Moss is going to be a corner that opponents look at with their mouths watering. Not only can they avoid Pat Surtain II by throwing on Moss, but he is going to be perceived as a guy who can't hang with today's top wide receivers.
That is simply not true. He holds his own more often than not and that was the case this past Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Sure, you can play devil's advocate and say that Jake Browning was the quarterback throwing against him, but he got the job done. Sean Payton had strong words of encouragement for him following the game.
Sean Payton on Riley Moss: "I thought he played outstanding. ... He had one of his better games. He responded. That's a good group we were playing against and the one thing, I said this a year ago, that's a lonely position at times. But he's such a competitor."

For those fans hoping that Moss would slowly take a back seat to first-round pick Jahdae Barron, that's not likely to happen anytime soon. Moss is a feisty competitor, and he's obviously grown confidence within his head coach. With a habit of not piling too much on his rookies throughout his career, Payton is not likely to decrease Moss' role in favor of Barron.

This Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, Moss will have to deal with the likes of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. That is an incredible combination of speed and strength, so he'll have his work cut out for him. But for anyone who had set a timer as to when Moss would find the bench, it can probably be turned off.
