The Denver Broncos went into their Week 12 bye with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and a huge reason why they secured the win was thanks to kicker Wil Lutz.
He's a veteran kicker who's spent a long time in the NFL, most of it with Sean Payton. He was a Pro Bowler back in 2019 and has been one of the better kickers in the NFL.
After that clutch performance against the Chiefs, which included a game-winning field goal, the Broncos rewarded Lutz with a new contract. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Lutz's new three-year contract is for top-10 kicker money.
Broncos' Wil Lutz earns top-10 kicker contract after clutch win vs. Chiefs
"During their bye week," Rapoport reports, "the Broncos made Wil Lutz a top-10 paid kicker, landing around No. 6."
While the specifics of the contract are yet to be known, this report from Rapoport reveals some indication of where Lutz's new contract will roughly land.
Among NFL kickers, Harrison Butker has the highest contract at $25.6 million. Lutz previously signed a two-year deal before 2024 that was for $8.4 million total.
But now, landing a contract inside the top-10 means he will, at minimum, have a new deal where he's making at least $16 million, which would be $0.1 million more than the current tenth-place, Houston Texans kicker Kai'imi Fairbairn.

Rapoport reports Lutz's deal will be around 6th place, which is currently Tyler Bass at $20.4 million. This means that Lutz is likely making at least $20 million on his new deal.
The Broncos rewarded their kicker after a clutch 5-for-5 performance in a 22-19 win over the Chiefs. Lutz is 17 of 20 on the year, with a long field goal of 57 yards.
Denver has a strong kicking game, and it's a huge reason why they're 9-2 despite playing in so many close games this season. Instead of letting him hit free agency, the Broncos rewarded Lutz with a new contract, likely around $20 million over three years.
