When it comes to the 2026 offseason, the Denver Broncos' top goal needs to be surrounding quarterback Bo Nix with more talent.
At wide receiver, the Broncos have some promising young players at the position, but they should look to add one established veteran opposite Courtland Sutton for Nix to really shore things up.
One player who makes sense for the Broncos is Indianapolis Colts pending free agent and wide receiver Alec Pierce, who Pro Football and Sports Network's Ryan Guthrie predicts will land in Denver.
"Bo Nix needs another outside weapon. Pierce provides exactly that," Guthrie said. "Alec Pierce averaged 11.9 yards per target, second-best in the NFL, and pairs well with Courtland Sutton as a vertical and red-zone threat. Denver’s defense is elite; this offense needs one more big-play element."
A former second-round pick of the Colts in 2022, Pierce is coming off his best season as a pro, with the Cincinnati product posting 47 catches for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns, with the former two stats being career-highs for him.
Pierce also led the NFL in yards per reception for a second straight season, cementing himself as an elite deep threat capable of taking the top off defenses.
The Broncos could definitely more of that element in their offense, which would in turn take some pressure off Sutton.
Spotrac projects Pierce will land a four-year, $80.9 million deal in free agency this offseason, which sounds about right considering the year Pierce is coming off of and his OK but not great production in years past.
The Broncos have a decent situation financially, with the team projected to have $27.2 million in cap space, so they can afford to sign Pierce.
We do believe the Colts are going to work hard to keep Pierce, but if the young wide receiver hits the open market, we'd expect the Broncos to make a push.
