The Denver Broncos are looking forward to the postseason and a win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday will give them home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. But many other teams around the league will end their seasons on Sunday and for some of those, a search for a new head coach starts immediately.
Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who had a stint as the team's head coach from 2017-18, is one of the top candidates due to the job he has done with the Broncos' defense. He will almost certainly get multiple interviews this offseason and there is a chance the Broncos will lose him to another team.
There are reports floating around that have connected Joseph to the openings for two teams that already have a vacancy.
Albert Breer reports that Joseph will interview for the vacancy in Tennessee. The Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan during the season. Mike McCoy has handled the duties as the interim head coach but the Titans will almost certainly bring in a new name.
In addition, Jordan Raanan of ESPN predicts that Joseph will have a chance to get the opening with the New York Giants.
"Joseph spent two years as the coach of the Broncos in 2017 and 2018. He's the current defensive coordinator in Denver, and his defensive expertise is viewed as an asset. It probably doesn't hurt that he has a connection with (Joe) Schoen from their time in Miami", wrote Raanan.
The Giants moved on from head coach Brian Daboll after a disastrous start to the season and have turned over duties to Mike Kafka on an interim basis.
In either situation, Joseph would have a young quarterback as the face of the team's future. The Titans used the No. 1 overall pick in the most recent draft to select Cam Ward and the team would likely be best suited to bring in someone who can help nurture his development. In New York, Jaxson Dart has made a strong impression as a rookie, but his playing style has led to major injury concerns.
Both situations would be tough for Joseph to walk into, but the Giants have the talent on defense to form one of the league's best units. With Joseph's defensive expertise, he could be seen as a top candidate for that spot if the team can find the right guy to help Dart become one of the top quarterbacks in the league, which he appears to have the talent to do.

That could lead to Joseph looking at a guy like Davis Webb for his staff. That opens the door to the Broncos losing multiple coaches from their staff next season.
