The Denver Broncos beat the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10, but near the end of the game, running back J.K. Dobbins was on the receiving end of a hip-drop tackle.

He stayed in the game briefly, but a day after the game, Dobbins posted an NSFW rant on social media, calling out the NFL for poorly officiating hip-drop tackles. That coincided with a report of Dobbins seeking a second opinion on an injured foot.

And now, according to Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette, the latest report on Dobbins has Denver considering a brutal injury reserve decision with their star running back.

Broncos considering placing J.K. Dobbins on IR after hip-drop tackle

"#Broncos I'm told are considering what to do with running back J.K. Dobbins and his foot injury," Tomasson reports. "I was told placing him on injured reserve is being considered."

This would be a brutal loss for the Broncos and a terrible injury for Dobbins. After a very productive season through 10 weeks, Dobbins' landing on injured reserve would be brutal.

If Denver does indeed place him on injured reserve, Dobbins would have to miss at least four games. That would likely mean that Dobbins, after missing Week 11 and the Broncos' Week 12 bye, would have to wait until Week 16 to return to the lineup.

He's very likely to miss Week 11 based on this report. If IR is in consideration, missing the Broncos' Week 11 game against the Kansas City Chiefs before their bye is very likely.

Through 10 weeks, Dobbins has 772 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and 37 first downs on 153 attempts. Through the air, he's caught 11 of his 14 targets for 37 yards.

He's averaging the highest yards-per-game of his NFL career, reaching 77.2 rushing yards per game through 10 weeks. But now, his season is potentially on hold.

If he does land on injured reserve, RJ Harvey, Tyler Badie, and Jaleel McLaughlin will be the main running backs. Harvey, the 2025 second-round pick, will likely get the bulk of the work.

Dealing with a foot sprain, Dobbins is potentially heading to injured reserve. The 27-year-old running back has dealt with an unfortunate string of injuries in his NFL career, and this issue is just another brutal injury for the veteran running back.
