Bo Nix ties major NFL record while setting separate, astonishing mark for Broncos image

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has led his team to the No. 1 seed in the AFC in just his second year as the team's starting quarterback. And while many critics out there refuse to give him much credit, he finished the season by posting two marks that no one can really sneeze at.

Nix has proven himself to be a winner. He was a winner in college and in two seasons with the Broncos, he has led the team to the playoffs both years after the team went nearly a decade without making them. The Broncos went 10-7 in 2024 and followed that up with a 14-3 campaign this year.

That puts Nix at 24 wins in his first two years as a starter, tying the NFL record set by the man he replaced in Denver, Russell Wilson. Wilson set that mark in 2012 and 2013.

But that may not even be the most impressive mark that Nix achieved following the Broncos' 19-3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18.

Bo Nix is the first Broncos QB ever to start in every game of a 14-win season

The 14 wins tied the most the Broncos have ever had in a season, matching the 1998 team that went on to win the Super Bowl. Those are the only two times this team has ever won this many games in a season.

The starting quarterback that year was John Elway in what turned out to be his final season in the NFL. But Elway only started 12 games in that fateful '98 season in which the Broncos went 13-0 before losing a game. So who started the other four games?

That would be Bubby Brister, a forgotten backup quarterback who always seemed to step up when his number was called. Brister went 4-0 that season for the Broncos and played quite well, throwing for 986 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also had a 38-yard touchdown run that was, at the time, a team record.

Nix has yet to miss a start in his first two seasons in the league. When you consider that 20 teams had to start more than one quarterback this season alone, that's impressive.
