Alex Singleton is in his fourth season as a linebacker for the Denver Broncos. During that time, he has become the top tackler on the team and a leader of the defense while also having to overcome a torn ACL suffered in 2024.
But on Monday, Singleton revealed something far more serious. The 31-year-old linebacker announced that he had undergone surgery to remove testicular cancer. It was something few people even knew he was dealing with.
I shared this news with our team this morning.

I’m grateful for everyone’s support and can’t wait to get back on the field soon!

While a timetable for his return to the field is still up in the air, we can take some time to appreciate Singleton's selflessness.
One of the more beloved players in the locker room, Singleton was the team's Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee last year. Though he was being recognized there for his work with Special Olympics, Singleton's character is becoming even clearer.
Singleton has not only played with the knowledge of this condition, but he chose to go public with it in order to create awareness surrounding early detection and regular screenings. And now that we can use hindsight to look at his play while dealing with this, check this play out.

Celebrating. Lending a crushing block. Doing all this while battling THAT.

The Broncos will have to turn to Justin Strnad to fill in for Singleton while he's out, but Broncos Country should now have an infinite level of respect for the player and man that Singleton is. It will be great to see No. 49 back on the field again soon.
