Even with the Dallas Cowboys kicking off the NFL regular season in a week, the product on the field has taken a back seat to the ongoing Micah Parsons contract saga.
Despite not being the quarterback of "America's Team," Micah Parsons' elite ability off the edge and undeniable talent have transformed him into the face of the franchise.
His public spat with club owner Jerry Jones, although not unforeseen, has gone on for so long that it's hard to envision a resolution coming before the start of the new campaign.
It's common at this point for Jones to drag his feet on extending one of his premier players, but could the displays of intense public animosity and refusal to get a deal done signal that a significant change could be brewing in Dallas?
On a recent episode of the "Maggie and Perloff" show, Maggie Gray suggested there are signs pointing to Jones getting ready to sell the team.
"He's selling the Cowboys," Gray said. "The new Netflix documentary reminded me of sprucing up your home to get a better resale value. It's a cliche, but everyone has a price. I believe that to be true, and he has a number in mind."
Gray's analysis appears to be a gross misinterpretation of facts.
Jones is 82, with his best years long behind him. He wants to remember and relive the glory years of the 90s, when his squad was winning championships, rather than focusing on the disappointments of the 21st century.
At his age, it makes no sense for him to sell. Jones is simply bitter that he can't field a title contender and is content riding the wave of nostalgia.
