Micah Parsons releases heartfelt statement on trade image

Well, it’s official, Micah Parsons is now part of the Green Bay Packers.

There have been rumors for the last few days that the Dallas Cowboys were interested in a trade, and they finally pulled the trigger late Thursday afternoon.

Parsons posted a heartfelt goodbye, thanking the Cowboys and their fans.

This is part of his statement:

"I never wanted this chapter to end, but not everything was in my control. My heart has always been here and still is.

This is a sad day, but not a bitter one. I’ll never forget the joy of draft night, the adrenaline of running out of the tunnel, or the brotherhood I shared with my teammates, coaches and the staff who prepared me every single game. Those memories are mine forever.

Thank you, Cowboy Nation, for every cheer, every moment, and every ounce of love you showed me. Wearing the star was the honor of my life."

There, of course, was no mention of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in the statement, although clearly he made a reference to him and the ongoing situation.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Parsons' deal will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.

“Parsons and the Packers already have reached agreement on a four-year, $188 million contract. @DavidMulugheta of @Athletesfirst had a hand in the trade and ultimately negotiating the record-breaking contract that includes $120 million fully guaranteed at signing and makes Parsons the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history.”

The Cowboys will receive two first-rounders and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
