The man of the hour is finally answering questions about why he traded his best player.

Jerry Jones held a press conference to explain why he traded one of the best players in franchise history.

It was televised via the NFL Network

"I really like Micah. I appreciate the four years we had him here. He's a great player. No question, I could have signed him in April. ... This was by design. I did make Micah an offer, and it wasn't acceptable, and I honored the fact that it wasn't done how he wanted -- through an agent."

“This gives us a chance to be a better team than we’ve had the last several years.”

When asked by reporters if he thought Micah Parsons wanted to leave, Jones and son Stephen both said basically no.

Jones also blamed Parsons' agent for the trade.

"He's not that fragile. Let me tell you something, you can't do that stuff and business like this and be fragile. I'm not. I would think with his background, he's very professional and willing to keep his eye on the ball and not get caught up in the emotions."

But unlike the Hershel Walker trade, where the Cowboys received several draft picks in return, the Cowboys only received one veteran player, Kenny Clark, a 30-year-old defensive tackle who only had one sack last year, compared to Parsons, who had 12, and they also received two first-round draft picks.

Former Cowboys great Michael Irvin had guaranteed that Jones wouldn’t be crazy enough to trade Micah Parsons.

Irvin said this earlier Friday on ESPN’s NFL Live to host Laura Rutledge.

"I guarantee Micah Parsons is not going anywhere."

Like the rest of us, however, Irvin was left in shock that Jones would make such a move, a move he claims will also help the Cowboys' run defense.

But many are comparing this trade to that of when the Dallas Mavericks traded their star player, Luka Doncic, to Western Conference rival the Los Angeles Lakers. Fans in Dallas are seething that they lost two generational players from the area in less than a year.

But Jones stands by his decision.

“We can win more without Micah than had we signed him.”
