Cowboys legend bashes Jerry Jones decision to trade Micah Parsons image

The Dallas Cowboys did the unthinkable on Thursday, trading star edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. This came after months of passive-aggressive remarks from Jerry Jones that were countered by Parsons revealing that Jones refused to negotiate with his agent on a long-term deal.

This move drew criticism from all over the NFL world, as well as from Cowboys legends. One in particular is Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, who called out Jones for an unnecessary gamble.

"This is a gamble The Gambler should not have taken," Irvin said.

The Cowboys received two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in exchange for the All-Pro edge rusher. And while the picks could end up being quality players, the likelihood they end up being as good as Parsons are slim to none.

The Cowboys will find out very quickly how good their defense is without Parsons, as they will kickoff the 2025 season on Thursday, September 4th against the Philadelphia Eagles.
