Dallas Cowboys injury updates open door for two more starting defenders to return image

The Dallas Cowboys could be getting one of their starting defenders back soon.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys have designated safety Malik Hooker to return from injured reserve. Hooker landed on IR last month after he suffered a toe injury.

Archer also shared the news that fellow safety Donovan Wilson, who was ruled out for each of the last two games because of shoulder and elbow injuries, is going to return to practice on Thursday.

"The Cowboys have opened the practice window on safety Malik Hooker, who has been dealing with a toe injury. Donovan Wilson (knee) expected to work at practice today," Archer reported.

Of course, in order for Hooker to play this week, he will have to be activated off IR first. There is no indication one way or the other if that will happen.

We'll have a better idea of where both Wilson and Hooker stand when the Cowboys drop their first injury report of the week later in the day.

Nevertheless, the Cowboys' defense continues to get healthier.

The impending returns of Hooker and Wilson come after the team activated both linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and cornerback Shavon Revel a few days back.

The Cowboys have sported one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season but are hoping their returning players, along with trade acquisitions Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, can help turn things around in the second half of the season.

That quest begins on Monday night, when the Cowboys travel to Las Vegas to take on the lowly 2-7 Raiders.
