Dak Prescott named as one of the most overrated QBs in the NFL image

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was recently named one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the entire NFL by Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay, who cited Prescott’s lack of playoff success as his rationale.

“The Dallas Cowboys have been riding with Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback for a decade now. While he's helped the team emerge as a playoff contender for much of that run, his stunning lack of success in the postseason has also held this franchise back from reaching its potential,” Kay wrote.

Prescott is an interesting QB to evaluate, because he’s been a very good regular season player for many years. He’s a three-time Pro Bowler who led the league in tossing touchdowns in 2023. However, he hasn’t been able to translate that success to postseason play. Prescott has a record of just 2-5 in the playoffs, with both of his wins coming in the Wild Card round.

“Considering the Cowboys have been desperate to get back to Lombardi Trophy-winning ways, it's been unacceptable that Prescott hasn't found a way to lead the side to its first NFC Championship Game, let alone Super Bowl, in three decades,” Kay added.

One person who would almost assuredly agree with Prescott being labeled as overrated is Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who recently called the Cowboys QB a “bum” on his podcast.

"They’ll never win with Dak... You have to understand, when I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback," Green said. "Of course he’s a good NFL quarterback. But I’m saying when the money is on the line, when it’s for all the marbles, who are you? He’s a bum. What has he done in those moments? Been a bum.”

Green later issued an apology for his word choice, but maintained his view that Prescott isn’t clutch. That view is shared by many, and that will likely continues to be the case until Prescott bucks the narrative and experiences some serious playoff success.
