Why Cowboys' Trevon Diggs Missed Week 7 vs. Washington image

The defensive struggles for the Dallas Cowboys have been well-documented in 2025, and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus’ unit was dealt another blow earlier this week. All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs was suddenly ruled out for Dallas' crucial Week 7 matchup against the Washington Commanders after suffering a concussion in a home “accident.”

Trevon Diggs is out with no timeline for return.

The Cowboys’ front office has been tight-lipped regarding the situation, with Executive Vice President Stephen Jones declining to comment when asked earlier this week, according to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowler, has been a key piece of the Dallas defense since he was drafted out of Alabama in the second round of the 2020 Draft. His breakout season came in 2021, when he led the NFL in interceptions (11) on his way to Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors. The 27-year-old is in the third year of a five-year, $97 million extension, which he signed in 2023.
