The Dallas Cowboys have shockingly released cornerback Trevon Diggs, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

"My understanding is Diggs’ release was not a result of a specific incident," Pelissero reports. "It was the culmination of multiple factors spread over time, including both performance and other elements. The team felt it was best for both Trevon and the Cowboys to move on at this point."

Diggs was one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL at the beginning of the decade. He picked off a league-high 11 passes in 2021, which led to him earning a $97 million extension with the Cowboys.

Diggs was a First-Team All-Pro in 2021 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 and 2022. He suffered a season-ending leg injury in 2023 after appearing in just two games. In 2023 and 2024, he has missed a combined 14 games.
