TL;DR

  • Dallas Cowboys face Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving in a must-win game.
  • Cowboys' playoff hopes depend on a victory against the Chiefs.
  • Rookie Shavon Revel Jr. may make his first NFL start.
  • This game is critical for the Cowboys' postseason aspirations.

The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for their significant Thanksgiving Day game versus the Kansas City Chiefs, with Brian Schottenheimer's squad facing a must-win situation once more at&T Stadium.

The Cowboys, now at 5-5-1, face a critical juncture where only a victory will sustain their faint playoff aspirations.

And the Cowboys might be relying on a rookie to help get the win.

As the inactive list dropped per Joe Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News, young corner Caelen Carson, who had a decent game last week, was listed as inactive.

Why is that interesting?

Well, it could mean that young rookie Shavon Revel Jr. Could be in line for his first start alongside All-Pro DaRon Bland. Having been on a pitch count the past two weeks, Revel Jr. Has been in ramp-up mode and now looks set to have his first start in the NFL.

The Cowboys' season hangs in the balance as they face the Chiefs.

With Dallas's current 5-5-1 record, each game from last week onward is essentially a playoff game, a do-or-die situation for their postseason aspirations.

The challenging three-game series against the Eagles, Chiefs, and Detroit Lions is viewed as a critical period that could define the season; after defeating the Eagles, attention now turns to Kansas City.

Should the Cowboys manage to secure a victory against the Chiefs, Schottenheimer's squad would then build significant momentum for the remainder of the season, arriving in Detroit in excellent condition.

And having Revel Jr. Make his first start might be the catalyst for making that happen.
