TL;DR

  • George Pickens, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is poised for a substantial contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
  • His current contract expires soon, opening possibilities for a franchise tag or an extended deal.
  • ESPN projects Pickens could earn $35 million next year, matching Justin Jefferson's current salary.

George Pickens is earning himself a serious bag.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers WR is now starring for the Dallas Cowboys, and he's set for a big contract sooner rather than later.

Pickens' contract expires when the season concludes. This opens the door for a franchise tag, but ultimately, a team will offer Pickens an extended contract.

The future is uncertain regarding which team, possibly the Cowboys or another club, will offer Pickens a substantial contract.

But the money is surely going to be huge.

ESPN's Ben Solak wrote this on X on Thursday: "Some team is gonna give George Pickens $35 million dollars next year."

Currently, Justin Jefferson makes $35 million per year as the second-highest-paid WR in the NFL.

Pickens had a sluggish beginning to Thursday's Thanksgiving Day matchup. However, he concluded the game with six receptions totaling 88 yards, highlighted by an impressive 39-yard reception.

Pickens is now up to 1,142 yards on the season on 73 catches to go with eight touchdowns.

He actually has more receiving yards this season than all the Steelers' WRs do when added together.

Pickens has been as advertised and more for the Cowboys. They'll have to pony up to keep him.

Because some team, somewhere in the NFL is going to pay Pickens a lot of money.
